Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end.
-Psalm 119:33
How did Jesus set an example to follow God’s will?
Imagine the picture before Jesus died on the cross. Jesus demonstrated how we can follow the God’s command till the end of His life. God’s command was sum up to this; Love God with all our heart, with all our mind, and with all our soul. And Love your neighbor as yourself. Noticed that till His last breath God is declaring God’s will. He showed the depth of His love for our God the Father and for us.
Let us also remember that Jesus, our ultimate Savior prayed to the Father; "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.(Luke 23:34). Jesus despite His afflictions, rejections and painful suffering, He’s still thinking about us till His last breath. Till the end, He continue to love, He continue to believe that no matter how ungrateful we are, no matter how we ignore His commands, no matter how much the gravity of our sins, despite everything Jesus defended us and even asked for forgiveness for our sins. He gave up everything even to the point of death. Let us not forget the truth; it’s not just a simple death but death on the cross. This is the depth of His love for all of us. So when there are times that there is no hope in our present situation, REMEMBER WHAT GOD HAS DONE. Remember that EVERY BREATH we take is GOD’S GIFT for us, a MIRACLE SIGN reminding us that we are still existing because in God’s thoughts we still have a purpose to fulfill, despite our weaknesses, despite how many times we broke His heart when we don’t follow Him, when we don’t acknowledge, when we don’t obey His commands, when we look at our life as nothing but wasted life, remember that in God’s eyes we are His treasured possession. Our value to Him doesn’t change. In God’s heart, He saw us as His dearly beloved children. The word of the Lord in Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
So how do we respond in God’s everlasting love?
We cannot mock God. He knows everything, our motives, our plans, and our very thoughts. But remembering that we are the reason that He gave His life then do we have any reason not to love and obey God? What’s our excuse? The very thing we can do is to pray and ask God to rule our hearts and let Jesus be the center of our life.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us andsent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.(1 John 4:10)
Because of His great love for us, we continue to love, we continue to believe that LOVE IS REAL when we find our life in Him.
My prayer is for us to live in God’s presence, so we can take part on the GREATEST LOVE STORY ever written in the hearts of every believer of Jesus Christ.
